OPTIONS & COUNSELING

No need is too small, and no voice is too quiet to be heard. We will devote the time and energy necessary to educate, advocate and empower women to make a healthy decision.

A vital part of any successful Pregnancy Resource Center is having a motivational program that will encourage women to set and achieve goals that will improve their lives and the lives of their children. In our center we call it the Mommy Merit Program.

Women who come to our center are offered opportunities to earn merits that will be used to purchase baby items from our well-stocked ‘store’. There they will find donor- supplied diapers and wipes, baby care products, clothes, bedding and many more items that will be needed during a baby’s first two years.

Moms can start receiving merits on their first and consecutive visits to the center by just showing up and meeting with their assigned counselor. From there they can begin making a plan of either taking part in our center’s classes or setting and working on personal goals that will earn more merits. Dads can also take part in this  program.

Clients can take classes on pregnancy, labor and delivery, newborn care, breastfeeding, bonding, early parenting skills and general life skills. They can also set their own personal goals and record them using the Mommy Merit Goal Sheet. Then either on their own or working with a counselor, they make a plan on how to achieve those goals. Goals can be anything from finishing high school to improving personal relationships, quitting smoking or any other goal that would move them in a positive direction.

An added benefit to this program is the building of relationships between our volunteers and the women and men who come to our center. As our volunteers come alongside to share wisdom, teach life skills and provide for the needs of their clients, they enjoy the blessing of seeing new moms and dads take on the responsibilities of loving and caring for their children.
